The Challenge
Right now, our young people
are struggling.
Anxiety, depression, and stress are on the rise, and traditional systems aren’t keeping up. Young people need safe, calm spaces where they can breathe, reflect and reset.

That’s what Te Whare Rama Pods offer.

These nature-inspired sensory spaces are designed to help students regulate emotions, reduce stress, and cultivate mindfulness for improved wellbeing and focus.

Te Whare Rama Pods are calm, carefully crafted spaces designed for one thing: helping young people feel safe, grounded, and supported.

Placed in schools and community settings, each pod provides:

• A quiet place to reset, that uses nature and the five senses to deactivate heightened emotion

• Space to practice mindfulness, de-escalate anxiety, and get support

• A safe zone that is free from judgement or stigma

• A setting that honours cultural identity and emotional wellbeing

• A tangible, practical tool to support the mental health system

Designed with input from rangatahi and professionals, ‘Te Whare Rama’ means ‘A House of Light’ — a beacon of hope and safety through the storms of life.

Engaged by Christchurch City Council, we are proud to support ongoing maintenance and upgrade works at the He Puna Taimoana coastal hot pools facility. Our work has included upgrades to the steam room and sauna, along with the construction of new fencing, decking, and custom garden boxes—enhancing both functionality and the visitor experience at this popular community destination.

Engaged by a leading commercial fitout client, JCC was contracted to complete all carpentry works for the interior fitout of Torpedo7 at Tower Junction. Our scope included custom shelving, detailed timber finishes, and both interior and exterior timber work. The result is a high-quality, well-executed space that looks incredible and functions seamlessly for the client.

Engaged by a leading commercial fitout client, JCC was contracted to complete all carpentry works for the interior fitout for Cambridge Partners

In collaboration with the City Care team, we carried out the carpentry works for the demolition and redevelopment at Merrin Primary School. The project included the construction of new classrooms and a purpose-built school hall. Spanning from 2021 to 2023, this work contributed to a modernised, functional learning environment for students and staff.

We were proud to work alongside City Care on the restoration of Coronation Hall in Christchurch, a heritage community facility that had suffered extensive fire damage. Our team carried out detailed carpentry and refurbishment works to help bring the building back to life—respecting its original character while ensuring it meets modern standards. This project was a meaningful opportunity to contribute to preserving a piece of Christchurch’s history.

In partnership with the City Care team, we completed the carpentry works for the new admin and library building at Christchurch South Intermediate. This project involved the construction of modern classrooms designed to enhance the learning environment for students and staff.
