A building story built together.
We’re Jason and Pagan Crane, the husband-and-wife team behind JC Construction. We started the business in 2021 with a simple goal, to build a company we could be proud of and grow together.
What began with light commercial projects has grown into a team of 20+ working across residential builds, renovations, multi-unit developments and commercial projects throughout Christchurch and the wider South Island.
JASON
Jason’s interest in building started young, spending his school holidays working at his uncle’s timber mill. He quickly realised he enjoyed the work and decided to turn it into a career.
After high school, he went straight into his building apprenticeship, progressing into a leading-hand role before becoming a Site Foreman and then Site Manager. Those years gave him experience on the tools, while also teaching him how to lead teams, manage sites and deliver projects from start to finish.
Originally from Taupō, Jason moved to Christchurch in 2016 and has called the city home ever since.
PAGAN
Pagan came into JC with a completely different background. Her experience spans fashion design, operations, e-commerce and marketing, bringing a different perspective and skill set to the business. While Jason’s experience is rooted in construction and project delivery, Pagan’s strengths sit more in the business and creative side.
As JC Construction grew, so did Pagan’s involvement. What started behind the scenes developed into a bigger role within the business, and today she works alongside Jason, leading much of the operations, marketing and business side of JC. Together, they bring their different strengths to the business and continue to shape how JC grows.
Starting JC was about more than simply growing a construction company. It was about building something together and creating a business we could be proud of.
Our first projects were in light commercial work, including renovation projects at Christchurch South Intermediate and Merrin Primary School. From those early projects, the business continued to grow, bringing more people, different types of projects and new opportunities along the way.
Today, Jason stays closely involved in the construction and project side, while Pagan looks after much of the business behind it. Together, we continue to run JC as a family business, with our team and the people we work with becoming a big part of that journey.
When we're not working, family is a big priority for us. You'll often find us spending time with our daughter, Madeline, heading along to Canterbury Rugby games or catching up with family and friends. And when Jason gets the chance, he's usually pretty happy to disappear for a spot of fishing or hunting with the boys.
